Chanderpaul is this year’s IAC awardee

Shivnarine Chanderpaul will be honoured on Sunday for his outstanding contributions in his profession, as part of the Indian Arrival Committee (IAC) activities to commemorate the 172nd anniversary of the arrivals of Indians in Guyana.

In a statement, the IAC said it is customary for it to recognise the contributions made by Indo-Guyanese to the development of Guyana in various fields.

Shivnarine Chanderpaul is recognised for his contribution to Guyanese and West Indies cricket.

He is the holder of the highest aggregate of test runs scored by any Guyanese and the second highest by a West Indian to date.

The awards will be handed over at a ceremony at the National Park. The IAC introduced its annual award in recognition of the contributions made by Indo-Guyanese to the development of Guyana in various fields. Past recipients include Pat Dyal, Yesu Persaud, Tota Mangar, among others.
