Chanderpaul receives County Cap15th September 2010

SHIVNARINE CHANDERPAUL was today awarded a county cap by Lancashire during the LV= County Championship match against Nottinghamshire

The 36-year-old West Indian batsman was presented with the cap on Wednesday afternoon at Old Trafford.

Chanderpaul arrived at Lancashire in July and made an immediate impression on his debut by hitting 92 runs in the drawn match against his former county Durham.

In the13 innings he has played for the county he has averaged 58.16 with the bat, amassing 698 runs, which include two centuries and five 50s.

LCCC Cricket Director Mike Watkinson said: “Shivnarine has had a huge impact on the club since his arrival and has illustrated his undoubted world class qualities as an international cricketer.

“His experience has had a positive effect on his team-mates and we are delighted to recognise his achievements in this way.”
