The World’s # 1 Player entered for Sarasota Cricket Festival

Shiv Chanderpaul, the West Indian batsman, voted the 2008 Cricketer of the Year by Sports’ governing body, the International Cricket Council.Chanderpaul will be playing at the Sarasota International Cricket Club’s Thanksgiving Festival, November 27 – 30.

The festival marks the club’s 25th Anniversary of cricket being played in Sarasota and has attracted 15 teams from the United Kingdom; Cayman Islands, Mexico City, Toronto and cities around the USA.

 Many famous cricketing names attending include, Tony Lewis – a past Capt. Of England; John Stephenson, Matthew Maynard, and Alex Wharf – all English Internationals and the West Indian International Faoud Bacchus.


Play on the Thursday, Friday & Saturday will be non-stop from 9:30 AM until 5:00 PM, with a new game starting every hour.


Sunday, November 30th is Finals Day with play from 10:00 AM until 5:00 PM.


The ground is situated on University Parkway, ½ mile east of Lorraine Road.  Everybody is welcome.  Entry and parking is free.  Refreshments are available.
